World of Coffee | Amsterdam 2018
Farmers and collectors, exporters or importers, dealers, owners, baristi, enthusiasts, organisations, companies- all those are gathering every year under this big event to share and grow in many aspects. The World of Coffee convent gives place to all the people that are involved in the world of coffee.
It was my first time in such a big event that has to do with coffee, so of course, I didn't know what to expect but I was quite excited and thrilled! The place for networking and showcase your coffee business. Many exhibitors, a lot of coffee and coffee products, a lot of complementary products like veggie milk, pro equipment, lectures, business services and of course gadgets that every Barista likes.
At the same time the World Barista Championship took place in a separate stage where champion Baristi from all over the world took part and competed to try to get a good score and move on to the next stage of the competition. For the first time in the history of the competition a woman won. The Polish Agnieszka Rojewska gave her best and impressed the judges with an outstanding performance.
My overall experience was quite good. I think that the whole environment was very exciting. Everyone was willing to share knowledge and experiences, and I took a lot back home with me. I was very happy to find out that the people of the world of coffee are open and happy to share and connect, and it made me see how single position you have in the the coffee chain is important for the success of every one. I think this is a unique thing that the world of coffee has.
On a very small part at the back of the convent was a little stage where professionals from all parts of the coffee chain gave speech and talked about different topics, like: sustainability, farming, kids labor, pricing, quality and so on...
It was a unique opportunity that taught me a lot, and to get to know people from all over the world, taking part some way in the world of coffee. I definitely would recommend for any coffee enthusiast to go and take part! You could learn a lot by talking to people, trying coffees, get to learn about the espresso machines, watching the competitions and also making new friends in the world of coffee.
Thank you for coming by!
Till next time, lots of love and great coffee :)
